A check valve is an automatic, self-activating valve that allows fluid (liquid or gas) to flow in only one direction and automatically prevents backflow. Unlike most valves, it does not require a handle, lever, or actuator to operate—it reacts entirely to the flow pressure within the pipe
Forward Flow: When the pressure of the fluid moving forward is greater than the resistance (e.g., a spring or gravity), the internal closure mechanism opens.
Backflow: If the pressure reverses or drops, the mechanism is forced shut, creating a seal that stops the reverse flow.
